Toyota Chaser for sale in Texas? We'll import one for you

The Chaser is the rear-drive Japanese-market sedan enthusiasts hunt for, and the turbocharged 1JZ Tourer V is the one most people want. Instead of waiting for one to show up locally, Walltap Garage finds the right Chaser in Japan and brings it to Houston or anywhere in Texas.

Which Chaser to look for

GenerationYearsWhat to know
JZX90 (X90)1992–1996Earlier body; turbo Tourer V versions exist. Old enough for the 25-year rule.
JZX100 (X100)1996–2001The most wanted Chaser. The Tourer V uses the turbocharged 2.5-litre 1JZ-GTE inline-six, rated at 280 PS.

Toyota ended the Chaser in 2001, so the last JZX100s reach 25 years old during 2026. Each car becomes eligible to import from its own build month, so we check the build date of every candidate. How the 25-year rule works.

What to check on a Chaser before bidding

  • Is it a real Tourer V? Confirm the trim and engine from the chassis and documents, not just the badges. Plenty of cars have been converted.
  • Factory manual or a swap? Say which you'll accept. Conversions need a closer look at the work and the parts used.
  • Modifications. Drift and tuning cars are common. Workmanship, wiring and engine changes all matter, and engine swaps affect EPA eligibility.
  • Repair history and rust. Read the auction sheet grade, the R/RA marks and the inspector's notes. Our auction grade guide explains the codes.

Questions buyers ask

Is the Toyota Chaser legal to import to Texas?

Yes, once the specific car is at least 25 years old from its build month and clears EPA and customs. The last JZX100s were built in 2001, so they reach 25 during 2026. Texas then needs a safety inspection, VIN inspection and a county title application.

What is a Chaser Tourer V?

The turbocharged version, using the 2.5-litre 1JZ-GTE inline-six. On the JZX100 it was rated at 280 PS. It's the trim most buyers look for.

JZX90 or JZX100?

The JZX100 (1996–2001) is the most popular; the JZX90 (1992–1996) is older and also eligible. Tell us which you prefer, or both, and we'll compare candidates.

Do you have Chasers in stock?

We source to order. Tell us the spec and budget and we'll search Japan for it. Ask us about any cars we currently have.

Can you find a manual Chaser?

Yes, put manual transmission in your brief and say whether a conversion is acceptable. Factory manuals are fewer, so allow more time.

How long does it take to get a Chaser?

Search time depends on the spec and budget. Export, ocean shipping and delivery add time after purchase.
